Event explores life after breast cancer
02/07/2007
Breast care nurses at the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are holding a unique event for breast cancer patients and their carers.
The ‘Life after Breast Cancer’ conference will give those who have received treatment for the disease a chance to speak to experts and ask questions about this often difficult period.
Jane Fide, Breast Care Nurse at the Trust, said: “Many patients who complete their treatment for early stage breast cancer have an excellent chance of never having a cancer recurrence.
“However, as breast care nurses we recognise that for many patients, getting ‘back on track’ after breast cancer can be difficult, confusing and frightening.”
Common concerns among patients include the risk that their cancer may return, how to recognise a recurrence, managing the menopause, healthy eating and making sense of the latest treatment choices.
The Life after Breast Cancer conference will address these concerns by offering an informative education programme to support breast cancer patients and their partners or carers.
The conference, which is open to both men and women, will be held at The Chase Hotel, Brockworth, on Friday, October 5, from 9.30am to 4pm. Tickets cost £10 and include all refreshments and lunch for the day.
