Take a look behind the scenes at hospital open day

14/05/2007

Cheltenham General Hospital is opening its doors for a day to give members of the public the chance to see what life is really like in its busy departments.

Former patients, Foundation Trust members, families looking for an exciting day out or even just interested members of the public are all invited to the event.

As well as the chance to speak to the Chief Executive and Chair of the Trust about the latest developments or plans for future, visitors to the open day will be given the opportunity to visit a wide variety of departments giving them a unique glimpse of life behind closed doors.

Visitors will be able to join tours around the haematology department, Battledown children’s unit, theatres, gynaecology, radiotherapy and the world’s first Mobile Chemotherapy Unit. Dozens of other departments will also be represented on the day.

Alison Griffin, Associate Director of Patient and Public Involvement, said: “Last year we held open days for our Foundation Trust members, and following their success, we have decided this year to invite the public too.

“This is a great chance for everyone to see what we do here, meet some of our hard-working staff and to ask us any burning questions you may have.”

The open day will be held on Saturday, May 19, starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm and will be held at the Sandford Education Centre, opposite the Lido. Parking and light refreshments will be provided.
