Joining Forces to Give Birds a Hand

Young people from around the county are helping to brighten up the environment for patients and staff at Cheltenham General Hospital.
The Gloucestershire College students have been working with the Young Gloucestershire Youth Volunteering Project and have built birdfeeders using recycled bottles.
The Lifeskills students have decorated them and they are donating six feeders which will be hung near the balcony of Rendcomb Ward, which specialises in oncology and haematology.
“My colleague and I have been running a weekly course with students at Gloucestershire College around volunteering and environmental projects. It is only a small group with mild learning disabilities and it’s great for them to see an end to their practical project,” said Youth Volunteer Development Manager Kathy Tasker.
Young Gloucestershire’s vision is to be the leading voluntary youth organisation in the county with whom other organizations and agencies want to be associated and support in the delivery of high quality programmes for young people aged between 11 and 25 years. Young Gloucestershire is based in Gloucester, but is able to access and operate from training bases throughout the county.
“We are delighted that Young Gloucestershire are making this donation, and we are sure it will be much appreciated by staff and patients alike,” said Jules Redgers, Voluntary Services Manager at Cheltenham General Hospital.
