Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s £5.98 million Oncology and Endoscopy Extension Project at Cheltenham General Hospital has been granted planning permission.
The new build will focus on the existing Oncology outpatient waiting area, improving facilities for chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients and radiotherapy workshops.
On the first floor there will be a new purpose-built Endoscopy suite with potential for future expansion of the service.
Director of Property and Medical Engineering Graham Marsh:
“The Trust has worked closely with Cheltenham Borough Council get to this stage of the development and we can now start work on the site at the eastern side of the hospital.
“The new unit has been designed to improve patient care, treat patients more rapidly and improve the facilities for rapid diagnosis.”
