Life After Breast Cancer
16/07/2008
Information and ideas for life after breast cancer will be available at a conference this Autumn.
The event, which follows a successful conference last year, is due to take place at the Chase Hotel in Brockworth on Friday October 17.
Breast cancer patients along with their partners and carers are all being invited to join Breast Care Teams from the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to share information and new ideas.
The event is being facilitated by Lead Cancer Nurse Specialist in Breast Care Jane Fide.
Speakers will include Registered Genetics Counsellor Sarah Pugh, who will talk about family history, genetics and breast cancer; Ray Owen, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in cancer and palliative care, who will speak on living with uncertainty and independent social worker Eve Jackman who will discuss relationships patients may have with themselves and others.
Advice on diet and exercise, breast reconstructions and Lymphoedema following breast cancer will also be on the agenda.
“This year’s ‘Life after Breast Cancer’Conference should be another exciting and positive event,” said Jane Fide.
“It is suitable for anyone who has had treatment for breast cancer and wants to have more knowledge of current breast cancer topics from specialists in this field. Partners and relatives are most welcome.”
There will be a small registration fee of £15, to include lunch and refreshments, and spaces are limited.
