Comment: Patient bedside phones

17/06/2008

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:

“We are sorry that this caller was unable to speak to her relative at the time she called.

“Incoming calls from abroad are accepted by our main hospital phones, but the bedside phone service is separate to the hospital switchboard and is a privately run service.

“Unfortunately patient bedside phones cannot accept international calls or be used to dial international numbers.

“Relatives or friends living abroad who wish to speak to a patient in our hospitals are advised to telephone the relevant ward and speak to the staff, who will assist wherever possible.

“The international phone number is listed on the Trust website: www.gloshospitals.nhs.uk
