No Smoking at Gloucestershire Royal

11/03/2008

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is taking the opportunity to highlight the importance of refraining from smoking at the hospital.

In celebration of the national ‘No Smoking Day’ on Wednesday 12th March staff at the Trust will provide staff and patients with information provided in the Health Information Room, at The Atrium.

The aim of the day is to make the public aware of the help available to them in regards to giving up smoking and to encourage them to do so.

The Health Information Room is open between 10:00am and 4:00pm, and staff will be on hand to provide help and support to people trying to quit.

A spokesperson for the Trust said: “No Smoking Day is a national event held annually, and has helped millions of people to give up smoking. Smokers are far more likely to give up smoking if they have help. The Trust became completely smoke-free in March 2006 and staff and patients can use the time at the hospital to kick the habit.”

The Trust will be hosting awareness days throughout the year. The Health Information Room is open for more information on forthcoming awareness days.
