Pam Ayres to Attend GRH Volunteers’ Annual Reception

13/10/2008

Writer and entertainer Pam Ayres will be entertaining up to 200 Gloucestershire Hospital Volunteers for this year’s annual reception.

Members of the Department of Spiritual Care and representatives from The Friends of Gloucestershire Hospital are to join Pam, Trust Chair Dame Janet Trotter and Trust Chief Executive Frank Harsent for the lunch and awards ceremony.

The event is the highlight of the volunteers’ calendar and where members of the Trust Board also attend and have the opportunity to thank and, celebrate their success and show appreciation for the time and commitment they give to the Trust.

Awards will be presented by Dame Janet and Pam Ayres to 24 volunteers for up to 25 years of service totalling in excess of 200 years combined service.

The volunteers, give weekly in excess of 1,250 hours to the benefit of patients and visitors to the hospital, and who always during so many changes in the health service happily moved on and readjust to the current need of the ever changing voluntary role.

Voluntary Services Manager Gay Limbrick:

“The day presents an opportunity for our volunteers to have some quality time to meet together socially, to be thanked for their dedication to the hospital and I know this will be a happy and amusing event for all to enjoy.

“The Friends of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital will also join us, and this will enable us to say a special thank you for the tireless work they put into raising funds for our wards and departments and spending them to the best advantage and to the benefit of staff and patients alike.”
