Into Hospital and Home Again: an online leaflet
Hospital Staff
All hospital staff wear name badges and distinctive uniforms. Ward staff will explain the differences if you ask.
Doctors
The consultant
has a team of doctors and is responsible for your overall care. One
of the team of doctors will visit the ward regularly to prescribe your
treatment and to see how you are getting on.
Nurses
The lead nurses
(matrons) are responsible for your overall nursing care but when
you first come into hospital a team of nurses will be introduced to
you to deal with your day to day care. If you are worried or concerned
about any aspect of your care please talk it over with a member of
the nursing team.
Helping the staff to learn
Medical and other students may be attached to the medical team looking
after you. Student doctors and nurses can best learn their jobs this
way. You may be asked if you will allow medical students to come with
a senior doctor to learn details of your condition. If you do not wish
to be involved, please say so and we will understand.
