Partnership Governor

I am the Chair of Gloucestershire LINk which was formed in Aprl 2008 following the abolition of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forums. One of the main objectives of LINk is to collect the views of patients and the public about the health and social care in their areas and make sure that these are made known to the providers, commissioners and regulators of the services. I see my role as the Partnership Governor as part of this process

Before I retired, I worked in the NHS for over thirty years, mainly in public health. I was also a member of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust PPI Forum from its inception five years ago and have been involved in a number of Trust Committees and projects. I was a fulltime carer for my husband for a number of years, which gave me a clear perspective of the NHS from another angle.

Appointed Governors

I have worked in the NHS for over 30 years and I am currently the Director of Commissioning / Primary Care at Herefordshire PCT having previously worked within the Gloucestershire health community for over 11 years in a variety of senior posts, firstly at Gloucestershire Health Authority and then as a Chief Executive at the Gloucester / South Tewkesbury PCG plus latterly as a Director of Service Provision at Gloucestershire PCT. Prior to my appointment in Gloucestershire I worked within the West Midlands Region mainly in acute hospitals including being the Director of Operations at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. I feel I have therefore have some health service experience to bring to the Trust and the role of governor in the further development of NHS services for Gloucestershire residents and patients in neighbouring communities.

I am a County Councillor for All Saint's Division (All Saint's, College, Charlton Park and Leckhampton Borough Wards); I represent approximately 1/5th of Cheltenham and work hard at both a local and county level for my constituents. I have been a member of Gloucestershire's Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, which has the responsibility of scrutinising proposed changes in service to the NHS locally for several years. I am also a member of the Leckhampton Court Hospice Support Group.

On May 1st 2008 I was elected to represent Charlton Park Ward on Cheltenham Borough Council. On Cheltenham Borough Council I sit on the planning committee, Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Audit Committee. I am also a member of the County Council's Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee which oversees scrutiny of the County Council's work.
