Tewkesbury Borough Council area

Prior to my retirement as the Matron/ Manager for Tewkesbury and Winchcombe Hospitals I worked for over 38 years within the NHS. This has given me an extensive knowledge of issues surrounding healthcare. Over 20 years living and working in Tewkesbury I have become familiar with the health provision within Gloucestershire and in particular Tewkesbury and Winchcombe. I believe this knowledge gives me the opportunity to contribute to the working of the Trust. I hope to represent the views of the people within the Borough and work with the Trust on your behalf.

I was appointed Consultant Oncologist to the Trust in 1975. In 1976 I was invited by Dr Brian Grey, General Practitioner to start an Oncology Clinic at Tewkesbury Hospital for the benefit of local patients. After over 24 years in post I took partial retirement in 1999 and became Caldicott Guardian and Head of Information Governance until my retirement in 2006. During this time I spoke at 10 International Conferences on medicine and 22 National Conferences on medicine and medical law. In view of 38 years in the NHS and 24 years running a clinic in Tewkesbury I feel that I have the experience and local knowledge to serve as a Governor representing the people of Tewkesbury as their Governor to the Trust.
