Thank you for electing me as your medical and dental staff foundation trust governor.
Since coming to work as a radiologist in Gloucestershire 18 years ago I have seen momentous changes in our clinical work as well as in the organisation of the trust and NHS.
I believe we all strive to deliver the best possible medical care to increasing numbers of people every year, often under considerable pressure. This is only achieved by the hard work and commitment of all concerned on a daily basis.
For success we need to be properly resourced and supported by a fully informed management team and included in the decision making process. In my new role, with your help, I hope to inform this process to sustain and improve our medical services in these times of economic uncertainty.
If you would like to contribute please contact me in main x-ray at the Royal.
I have worked for the NHS for 35 years and the last 15 of these as a Senior Nurse here in Gloucestershire. My current role is Assistant Director of Nursing, Policy and Practice Development. As an elected staff governor in the Nursing and Midwifery constituency I will endeavour to ensure your views are well represented within the Trust. I would encourage you to contact me and communicate any issues that you wish me to raise on your behalf. I look forward to hearing from you.
Jan Stroud Senior Sister Assessment and Rehabilitation Delancey Hospital
Since qualifying in 1990 I have worked in many areas within the Trust including medicine, orthopaedics, medical assessment unit and for the last seven years in assessment and rehabilitation .I feel strongly that as employees in an ever changing environment and with a vested interest in an efficient caring, high quality health service we need to look at ways of improving the way we work on a daily basis.
I look forward to representing all staff on any issues that are of concern and would ask you to contact me in order that your voice can be heard. Remember it is your trust both in and out of work!
I am based in the Property and Medical Engineering Department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
I am impressed with the Council of Governors - a true mix of talent, experience and knowledge, brought together to benefit patients and staff in our Foundation Trust, although the early days were not easy as we were finding our feet and had to grasp new concepts.
Previous experience helped, as I am used to dealing with all forms of bureaucracy and reading and understanding new concepts. We managed to achieve a way of contacting staff Members and we will be consulting our constituents to gauge their views about various issues over the next few months.
I have worked for the NHS in Gloucestershire since 1990. For almost 11 years I was a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology and Blood Transfusion in the Pathology Department at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Since 2001, I have worked in the Information Unit and for the last 2 years as a General Manager in the Women & Children's Divison. This combination has given me a good working knowledge of the clinical, business and operational aspects of the NHS.
As the elected Staff Governor for the Admin & Clerical constituency, I am aware of the essential role that this group of staff provide within the Trust. Your views are important. Please do contact me direct if you have any issues that you would like me to raise on your behalf, and I will do my best to ensure that your views are represented.
NEWS
Share Your Hospital Experience- from the other side of the fence.
Staff who have spent time in either of Gloucestershire’s acute hospitals as patients are encouraged to share their experiences with Shan South as a Staff Governor .
"I have Lead responsibility for Essence of Care - Patient Focused Benchmarking for Healthcare Practitioners and I am constantly trying to establish how well this is being embedded in our everyday practice across the Trust.
I need to receive feedback from those of you who know the Trust best and have spent time on the wards or in any of our departments as patients.
I am keen to hear about all experiences, both good and bad, so that the Trust can make changes as appropriate to meet the needs and expectations of our patients.
This is an opportunity for those of you who have experienced hospital life as patients to tell me about both positive experiences and what could be done better. We want to be able to capture the patient experience from our own staff to find out what we are doing well and if you have picked up on any real issues it also gives us a way to move forward and make improvements.”
Any information gained during the discussions will be held in the strictest confidence.
Anyone who is interested in sharing their experiences with me can contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time to chat on 08454 224164 or by email".
