Introduction
Occupational Therapy is a health care profession concerned with enabling people to fulfil their potential in daily activities, following illness or accident and ensuring opportunities to return to everyday life. Day to day activities are those valued by each individual and those that may be beneficial to health and well being, including work, leisure and self care activities.
Should you be referred to an Occupational Therapist within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will be offered specialist assessment and they will ensure your rehabilitation needs are met. Please see the list of our services provided below.
All Occupational Therapists working in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are registered with the Health Professions Council, the regulatory body for Allied Health Professionals.
Services Provided
The Occupational Therapy Team offers a comprehensive service in Cheltenham General Hospital, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Delancey Hospital for patients admitted to hospital and out-patients where appropriate.
If you are admitted, you may need to be referred to an Occupational Therapist. Working with you, the Occupational Therapist will ensure your timely and safe discharge from hospital, as part of a multi disciplinary team and in line with the trust discharge policy.
Patient Information leaflets are available for a variety of conditions. We encourage patients to ask questions in order to help them understand their problems and the treatment options available. Links to some of these leaflets are available here.
If you are admitted to a Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust hospital, you may be referred to an Occupational Therapist by another health care professional.
