Introduction
Colorectal surgery involves the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum, or anus. These include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), rectal prolapse and incontinence, colorectal cancer, polyp disorders, and common anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids.

The Colorectal Consultants are dedicated to providing compassionate, individually tailored patient care to the people of Gloucestershire. Supported by a multi-disciplinary team that works closely together to provide an accurate and timely diagnosis.
The department's team is especially sensitive to the anxieties and concerns of patients who have benign or malignant colorectal disease. When exploring treatment options, we consider your individual lifestyle and needs, and ensure every care plan is carefully reviewed and fully coordinated. At each stage, team members work closely with patients to alleviate any physical and / or emotional stress they may experience

Our Staff
There are 6 Colorectal surgeons who each lead a team of specialist doctors and nurses. As a patient you may be seen by the clinician or by a doctor or nurse within their team.The clinician has overall responsibilty for your care.
In addition to the two main Hospitals the Colorectal Surgeons hold Outpatient Clinics at Cirencester, Dilke Memorial, Lydney, Stroud General, Tewkesbury and Winchcombe Hospital.

Inpatient and Day Case Services are carried out at Cheltenham General and Cirencester Hospital.
