Introduction
Diabetic medicine is concerned with the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of diabetes. Diabetic services provide help and support for diabetic patients to enable them to manage their condition.
The Department provides the following Outpatient Services:
• General Diabetic Service
• Young Diabetic Medicine, 16 to 21 year olds
• Diabetic Medicine & Podiatry Service
• Diabetic Antenatal Service
• Diabetic Assessment Service
• Insulin Pump Service
• Lipid Disorders Service
Please Note: Not all Services are provided at every Location.
Inpatient Services are based at:
• Cheltenham General Hospital - Woodmancote Ward
• Gloucestershire Royal Hospital - Wards 7a and 9b
Our Staff
There are 4 Consultant Physicians in Diabetic Medicine, and one consultant in Chemical Pathology / metabolic medicine, who each lead a team of specialist doctors and nurses. As a patient you may be seen by the clinician or by a doctor or nurse within their team. The clinician has overall responsibilty for your care.
In addition to the two main Hospitals the Clinicians hold Outpatient Clinics at Berkeley and Tewkesbury Hospital.
