Introduction
Paediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases in children.
Within Paediatrics there are many specialised areas, these include: -
Paediatric Cardiology: The medical specialty dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the heart in children.
Paediatric Neurology: The diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system in children, such as headaches, epilepsy, numbness, loss of movement or memory.
Neonatology: The branch of paediatric medicine concerned with the treatment of diseases and disorders in newborn infants.
Paediatric Surgery: Surgeons who operate exclusively on children. Within paediatric surgery there are the same sub-specialties as in surgery generally, e.g. paediatric urology, paediatric ophthalmology or paediatric orthopaedics.

Our Staff
There are 19 Paediatricians who are based within the Hospitals and 7 who are Community based. They each lead a team of specialist doctors and nurses. As a patient you may be seen by the clinician or by a doctor or nurse within their team. The clinician has overall responsibility for your care. In addition 19 Clinicians from other Departments within the Trust also see Children in specialised clinics.
Paediatric services are provided at Berkeley, Cheltenham General, Cirencester, Community Paediatric Sites in Cheltenham and Gloucester, Dilke Memorial, Gloucestershire Royal, Lydney, Moore Cottage Bourton, Moreton District, Stroud General, Tewkesbury and Winchcombe Hospital.
