Introduction
The Orthotic department provides specific orthosis or orthoses (these are splints or supports). An Orthotist is a person qualified to assess, measure and fit all types or splints or supports.
An orthosis is a device applied directly and externally to a person's body with the object of supporting, correcting or compensating for a (skeletal) deformity or weakness however caused. It may be applied with the additional objective of assisting, allowing or restricting movement of any part of the body.
An orthosis is a device that is applied to a part of the body to correct deformity, improve function, or relieve symptoms of a disease.

• Specified insoles and foot orthoses (splints)
• Made to measure or ready made footwear
• Adaptation of patients own footwear
• Repairs to made to measure footwear
• Lower Limb and upper limb orthoses (splints or supports and repairs to these).

• Abdominal and spinal supports, and repairs
• Orthoses for the head and neck and repairs
