The nursing staff are led by a Sister wearing a dark blue uniformand a staff nurse who wears blue and white stripe dresses or blue and white stripe tunics and navy trousers. The nursing staff will answer any questions or queries about your visit.
Often student nurses are present in clinics who are visiting as part of their training. They wear light blue dresses or tunics with navy trousers.
There is also a receptionist / clerical assistant who works part-time and wears a blue blouse and black trousers.
There may also be Junior Doctors, Senior House Officer grade doctors and Medical Students within the department who will be wearing name badges.
What to Expect
On arrival in the department patients are asked to report to the receptionist who checks that personal details are correct, eg. name, address and telephone number. The patient is then seen by a member of the nursing staff before seeing a doctor.
Every effort is taken to ensure waiting time is kept to a minimum but occasionally delays do occur, in which case patients will be kept informed. Patients are seen according to their appointment time but it is important to note that there may often be more than one clinic running at any one time.
The department is open between the hours of 09.00 am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays.
